I’m tiring of playing racing games with random internet folk. Does the term fair race appeal to anyone out there in the online gaming arena? I’m sure it must, but the fact remains that online races are most often turned into some kind of destruction derby by useless, worthless and obvious cheats.
It’s going to sound like a bit of a rant, but you know what I don’t care. Tonight on GRID I faced two of the most blatantly annoying cheats I have seen in a while. Let’s call them out, they were ‘o DisL3ksicK o’ and ‘regius5005’. Say hello! They reside on Xbox Live.
regius5005 started right off the starting grid by ramming anyone next to him or behind him into the wall putting them at an immediate disadvantage, while his general racing demeanour wasn’t any different. Coming through! SMASH!
‘o DisL3ksicK o’ wasn’t any different, if you can’t stay on the track in a game with the arcade physics of GRID then you shouldn’t be playing a racing game. Remember, slow in and fast out. Not the other way around. Nor should you be using the other cars that were (that being the past tense) on racing line as shields to ensure your 100mph entry into a 30mph hairpin is successful.
When are the games developers going to tackle these general cheating tactics? Playing GRID as the dedicated destruction derby is fun, you expect the collisions. While racing for 8 laps on Nurbergring to have that position you had held the entire race robbed on the closing lap by someone who blatantly crashes into you on a corner where you simply have no option but to slow down, is infuriating.
Yes is it’s only a game as some people would say, but so is football and nobody tolerates cheating in that sport, even if they seemingly get away with it. There are punishments for people over stepping the line and online racing developers need to find a way to control these tactics otherwise it’s pointless playing. I can handle losing if I race badly, but to have my car blatantly spun or forced off the track time after time is pathetic. Get is sorted developers.
