Dead Rising 2 confirmed...

That Dead Rising 2 trailer I posted links to yesterday is the real deal. Capcom have confirmed the first initial details and it will be going multi-platform too. The title has been confirmed for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The original sold in the region of 1.5 million copies on its release on Xbox 360 back in 2006 and has a large fan base which will only extend further now the game is no longer an exclusive.

Capcom have yet to confirm much in the way of the story. What we do know is that after the end of Dead Rising the zombie virus was not contained and several years after the first game, zombie outbreaks are occurring all over the United States. The setting for Dead Rising 2 is Fortune City which certainly seems to be a casino, Las Vegas style.

The most concerning aspect of the announcement comes down to the development team which has changed this time around. This might have fans concerned about the prospects for the title. However, key members are still involved from an advisory role while original producer Keiji Inafune is the producer for the game. So fingers crossed that fresh developers Blue Castle Games can keep the sequel on target to not only outperform the original, but stay true to the roots that fans loved so much. Personally I was not a huge fan of the saving structure in Dead Rising, so you the might want to address that as some reviews marked the game down because of this awkward structure of play.

For now, here is the first batch of screenshots for you to enjoy.
